Artist's Comments

This part of Rushmore always makes me upset and uncomfortable. In the commentary, Owen Wilson talks about it being the point when Max comes to his terrible realization; his fantasy is ruined.

It kills me every time. Every single time. I think I know exactly how he must feel.

Just a quick doodle. Speedpaint? Something.

a lot of parts in Wes Anderson films are pretty uncomfortable to watch.

This one is particular is pretty bad in that respect. (But, they are still gorgeous. I'm such a sucker for that man's work)

Greatgreatgreat. Those textures are amazingly done especially that jacket.

It's that sort of discomfort I really like in movies. I think it feels more like looking back on things that happened to yourself. You know, things you regret and wish you never did, and you wish you could change it.

Thanks so much ! I think a lot of the piece is too light to see the rest of the texture, so that's mostly why the jacket looks the best, haha.

Mebbe...
Actually, I think I have a sketch of you in my sketchbook somewhere. Haha.

Wes is great because he gets under your skin with characters that you, unfortunately, can't help but relate with. Everyone can feel for the characters because, despite eccentricities, they speak to that sort of awkwardness that we all feel at some point or another...

Ooooh I love this. Poor little Max :( Your work meshes with Wes's so well.

I watched this movie just so I could understand this picture! And now I do! And its a lovely interpretation. I love how you can completely tell its him, but it still totally looks like your style. Good stuff.
